How can I add a DNS record to my domain's DNS zone?

Note : This makes sense only if the domain is using LightningBase name-servers or will be switched to Lightningbase name-servers soon and if the domain is added in the cPanel here as Primary domain/Add-on/Alias etc.

1. Log into cPanel of the hosting plan in which the domain is placed.  (instructions here: https://secure.lightningbase.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&catid=4&id=6  )

2. Click on Zone Editor

3. Click on “Manage” next to the domain for which you want to edit DNS.

4. From the dropdown , choose the Record you want ( A, MX, TXT, CNAME etc) and enter the details and Click on Add record.

Most commonly used DNS record types:

A – Address Record: This is for pointing a IPv4 IP to a host name (The IP address of the server where the domain is currently hosted and loaded from)

NS – Name Server Record: This is used to specify a authorized DNS zone to host the dns records

MX – Mail Exchange record: Used to specify the hostname of the mailserver

CNAME – Canonical Name Record: Used for domain aliases

TXT – Text record: Commonly used for SPF records
